About CertPost
CertPost monitors SSL and TLS certificates that your server actually serves, checking the full chain, hostname match, and expiry dates, then alerts before certificates expire.
Questions on file
Do I need to install anything?
No. CertPost connects from outside like any visitor does, so it sees what your visitors see. There is no agent or software to install.
Can you watch internal hosts?
CertPost checks from the outside, so a host needs to be reachable from the internet on its TLS port. Public hostnames, mail servers, and admin panels on non-standard ports work, but a host that only resolves inside your network does not.
How noisy is it?
CertPost sends one message per event with no flapping or duplicates. When a certificate is renewed, it quietly re-arms its own reminders. A weekly all-clear digest confirms everything is green.
What if I already have uptime monitoring?
Uptime tools tell you when a site is down. CertPost tells you it is about to be down and which link in the certificate chain is at fault, giving you time to fix it before an outage.
Why pay for certificate monitoring if my registrar emails about domain expiry?
While registrars do send domain expiry notices, they may not reach the right person if the notice goes to an old mailbox, the card on file expires, or the domain is in an account belonging to someone who left. CertPost watches from outside the registrar and tells whoever you configure.
